Bajaj Discover 125 Disc In-Depth Review

Introduction

Bajaj Auto Ltd. is one of the prominent two-wheeler manufacturers globally, based in India. Like our neighbor country, Bajaj is very popular in Bangladesh, especially in the standard and commuter bike categories.
Among different lineups, Bajaj's Discover lineup is probably the most famous in Bangladesh because of its super mileage and competitive pricing. Today in this article, we will talk about their latest addition to Discover lineup, Bajaj Discover 125 Disc variant with its key features, specifications, and opinion. Let get to it.

Key Features:

Uttara Motors Ltd. is the distributor of Bajaj in our country from the beginning. There are several features this bike has which are worth discussing.
Over the years, most fundamental characteristics like the engine, transmission, and design have remained almost the same for all Discover bikes. Still, the key feature that sets this particular Discover variant apart is the Discover 125cc disc brake at the front instead of a drum brake. This is the reason the word Disc is included in the model name.
Other than this brake upgrade, this bike has several other features that we tried to break down for you below. So let's take a look.

Outlook and Ergonomics

If you have already seen or used a Bajaj discover bike, this bike will look a lot familiar to you as this model shares a strong resemblance to the older models of the Discover series. Everything is the same starting from the very look, build quality, side panels, engine power, head and tail lights, fuel tank, and seating, except for some additional tweaks here and there.
At the end of the day, the design of anything is a personal choice, but we didn't find anything that'll make you hate it. It's nothing fancy like a sports bike, but the design is decent enough to compete with other commuter bikes in the market. In addition, there is a unibody seat which provides you with a comfortable reach to the handlebar and to move it around with ease.
The distance between the footrest/ kick start to the seat is also very comfortable, suitable for both tall and short riders. You'll get the option to choose from four different color options. The colors are black-blue, black-red, black-green, and lastly, an entirely red option.

Engine and Transmission

Bajaj Discover 125 disc is equipped with a reasonably powerful air-cooled single-cylinder, 4-stroke, 124.5cc engine with a max power number of 11PS at 8000rpm and a max torque of 10.8 Nm at 5500rpm.
With Bajaj's very own DTS-i (Digital Twin-Spark Ignition) technology, there are two ignition plugs instead of a previously used single spark plug. This technology allows the engine to have a better combustion pressure, resulting in more torque, lower emission, and fuel efficiency. For transmission, there is a manual system in place with a 5-speed gearbox.

Dimension, Weight, and Ground Clearance

The weight of a bike plays a vital role in making a bike more stable and well-balanced. This bike weighs 124.5 kg, perfect for a motorcycle in the commuter segment with a 125 cc engine. The overall length of this bike is 2035 mm, with a height of 1085 mm and a width of 760 mm.
Bajaj has used a semi-double-cradle frame for this bike and a wheelbase of 1305 mm. With a comparatively long wheelbase, this bike has more stability on the road and provides more control while changing direction. In addition, this bike has a ground clearance of 165 mm, which might not be the highest number, but still enough for riding on bumpy roads in our country.

Suspension, Brakes, Wheels

At the front, this bike features a telescopic suspension with 140 mm fork travel and a nitrox gas-filled suspension at the back with 120 mm rear fork travel. Both the front and the back wheel are equipped with tubeless tires with a 100/80-17 46P tire at the front and a 100/90-17 55P tire at the back.
Tubeless tires drastically reduce the chance of getting a flat tire, reduce the weight, and provide better traction on the road. For the first time in the Discover lineup, Bajaj has introduced disc braking at the front wheel with this model.
Disc brake applies force on the disc attached to the wheel with a brake pad or brake caliper to stop the bike. As a result, with Discover 125cc disc brake, the braking performance is much less affected by weather conditions, prevents brake lock, fewer moving parts, and works more effectively. Lastly, repairing cost, Bajaj Discover disk brake price is a lot less than the previously used drum brake system.

Mileage and Electrical

This bike has an impressive 8 liter primary fuel capacity and 2.3 liter primary fuel capacity for a motorcycle in the commuting segment.
The mileage we got in our test drive in the city area is a staggering 55 Kmpl, which is also one of the highest numbers for a 125 cc bike. This bike also comes with a 12V 5Ah battery, capable of powering the lights and horns for several years.
The dashboard is another area that has received some real upgrades with this Discover version. Except for the RPM meter, fuel gauge, speedometer, odometer, everything is now digital.

  • Suspension system works great
